Joes to Go

Sloppy Joes to Go

ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef (about 1 1/2 lb.s)
  • 3/4 C finely chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 C chili sauce (I use more tomato sauce and 1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce)
  • 2 Tbs. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbs. white vinegar
  • 1 Tbs. prepared mustard
  • 1 8 oz. tomato sauce

Simmer or put in the crock pot.

  1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef, celery and onion.
  2. Drain the fat, who needs it?.
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients, simmer covered, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. If Joes appear too 'loose', leave cover off and let moisture evaporate.
  5. Cook until it's the consistency you like for serving on toasted buns, with french fries and cole slaw.

I cook these in bulk – 5 –6 lbs. of ground beef at a time and freeze in 2-3 cup containers.  I can pull out one container at a time for Sloppy Joe Sandwiches or other recipes we use it for.  I will post a Sloppy Joe Recipe post soon.
