Each year the Lord gives me a word or phrase to study throughout the year. He usually will confirm it more than once so I will know this is what He wants me to study and focus on for the coming year.
Last year He took me on a journey in discovering what it meant to "enter the land of the living."
Beginning the Year with Thanks
The Land of the Living
A few weeks ago, He confirmed this years word/phrase:
the name or your name
He wants me to study verses that state "in the name" or "your name" or simple "the name."
Just at the sound of your name
...mountains shake
...oceans roar
...angels bow
...the earth rejoices
...people cry out
...morning breaks in glory
... creation sings your story
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Philippians 2:10
As far as I could tell - just about every time the word "name" is used in the old testament, whether it was in reference to the Lord or someone else it come from the Hebrew word...
Shem - noun
1) name
a) name
b) reputation, fame, glory
c) the Name (as designation of God)
d) memorial, monument
Shem is a primitive word from
suwm
- through the idea
of definite and conspicuous position
Suwm (sum) - verb
1) to put, place, set, appoint, make
2) to set, direct, direct toward3) to set, ordain, establish, found, appoint, constitute, make, determine, fix
4) to set, station, put, set in place, plant, fix
5) to make, make for, transform into, constitute, fashion, work, bring to pass, appoint, give
...to set
...to make
...to establish
...to set in place
...to plant
...to fix
... to determine
When I set, make, establish, set in place, plant, fix, determine....
the name
above all names...
in the forefront of my thoughts.... in the forefront of my life...
well... mighty things happen.
At Your Name, the mountains shake and crumble
At Your Name, the oceans roar and tumble
At Your Name, angels will bow, the earth will rejoice
Your people cry out
At Your Name, the morning breaks in glory
At Your Name, creation sings Your story
At Your Name, angels will bow, the earth will rejoice
Your people cry out
Chorus:
Lord of all the earth
We shout Your Name, shout Your Name
Filling up the skies
With endless praise, endless praise
Yahweh, Yahweh
We love to shout Your Name, Oh Lord
There is no one like our God
We will praise You, praise You
There's no one like our God
We will sing, we will sing
There is no one like our God
We will praise You, praise You
Jesus, You are God, we will say
