Weekly Wrap Up – Week 19 - 20

We spent week 19 and 20 finishing up our unit on Europe.  We read the YWAM Biographies for William Book and George Mueller, both very inspiring books. 

    
We completed Biography Reports for each on of them.
   



We have been reading the 2nd book in the Tales of the Kingdom Trilogy, Tales of the Resistance.  I think this series would make great gifts to graduates…

We had our monthly co-op and read about Catherine Booth in 10 Girls Who Changed the World.

We also completed a worksheet on Mountain Ranges.
  











We ordered from the library the Magic Tree House, Dogs in the Dead of Night and have been reading about Jack and Annie’s adventure in the Swiss Alps. 

We continue to work on our Basics… Math, Reading, Writing and our Continent Boxes. 

We continue to de-clutter and box up items in preparation for our move.  We also got word this week that we have loan approval for the home we are buying and should be moving mid February.  This was of course the highlight of our week. 

We will begin our next unit on Asia for February, but with the move it may be a light month.  I love Asia, so I am not wanting to miss out on studying this continent so we may adjust our next few months so we can do it justice.

Weekly Wrap Up – Weeks 18

Weeks 16 –17 we finished up our Advent items, Celebrated Christmas and New Years. 

 

We entertained company throughout, with my sister visiting for 4 days, and a few of our missionary daughters friends visiting at two different times. We had allot of family time together and enjoyed having our whole family home and together.

We celebrated hubby’s birthday. And then we said goodbye to our missionary daughter as she headed back to her “other” home.

This week it was back to reality, so to speak, as we worked on getting back on a “school” routine. We took some time to review and remind ourselves of out routines for the day. (After a break, this is always a good thing) We are finishing up our Unit on Europe this month. We will be coving 3 more countries of Europe, Russia, United Kingdom and Germany.  We started our YWAM biography on George Muller, which we are enjoying.

My Golden Girl finished her intermediate math book during break… yes she did math during break, cause she was motivated to her advanced book this new quarter.  We had some baking fun.  And we received our much awaited approval letter on the home we are wanting to purchase.  (We are now in Phase 3 – the final stages of purchase) We spend part of the break de-cluttering and boxing up things do we do not daily use. This month we have a goal of completing a box a day in between schooling for the day.

 

So that was some of the highlights of our week.

Weekly Wrap Up – Weeks 14 – 15

  We are full fledge into our Christmas Unit and off for the month on December with regular studies.
 
We are so enjoying our Advent activities, using the Jesse Tree Calendar Connections  from 1+1=1=1.

On Friday Hubby and I took our unique son with us to pick up our missionary daughter at the YWAM base.  We spend the weekend celebrating our unique son’s 17th birthday and relaxing… It was great.

My little one made the cutest check off list to mark off the weekend and count down the days until she would see her big sissy.

We were waiting for our missionary daughter to set up the tree, so we took it out on Monday and set all the ornaments on the tree that night. 

Each year we add 8 new “picture” ornaments to the tree.  This tradition started out years ago when my mom sent picture ornaments for the kids two years in a row.

 We loved the idea of having a picture from that year on the tree and it became a  tradition. A few years back we stopped adding any other ornaments to the tree because the “picture” ornaments took up the whole tree. 

We figured out this year that there are 139 picture ornaments on the tree.  I love taking them out each year and putting them away.  I have a box for each child and I take my time putting them away…  cherishing each picture and looking at how much they have grown over the years… fills my heart with such JOY!!!!

It has been so wonderful having everyone home.  We have enjoyed just hanging out, watching TV together, playing games, doing activities together and just plan being together
     
I know that this month is going to go so fast, so I am enjoying every moment of it…

Weekly Wrap Up - Week 13

We had a very light week, winding down on our November Unit…  Europe.  We will continue part 2 of Europe in January. 

We did our regular dailies (the 3 R’s – Reading, aRithmetic and wRiting…) I need to take some pictures of us doing these thing.  Maybe next week : )

We are finishing up reading William Booth.  Amazing     all he did for the poor of Europe and around the world…  We finished Thanksgiving on Thursday and the Pilgrims go-along book.  We have one more chapter in The Tales of the kingdom.  We are looking forward to starting the next book in the Trilogy.

We worked on putting together items for our Co-op and we finished our school on Friday with co-op and celebrating Christmas around the world.  Was a great day.


The highlight of our week was receiving this box from my missionary daughter for the girlies… 
The squeals and excitement was wonderful!!!
