One of my goals for 2015 is to read more –
I love to read but I have gotten out of the habit of reading books. I read allot of blogs and articles and devotions type books – and different parts or chapters of books that apply to a certain area of my life - but to commit to reading a whole book to completion (unless it is a read-aloud book with the girls for school), is a goal worthy of taking on this year.
So, being the list person I am, I made a list of some the books I want to read this year. I have made a goal to read 4 –6 books. That may not sound like much of an accomplishment to some of you, but I know for me I have to start out small and be realistic. Especially since there are so many books I would love to read and I can set myself up for defeat if I try to read them all.
So here is my list of wanna reads; I will pick from this list – knowing that I will no doubt add to it as the year goes on.
I want to finally finish this book – I have bought and given away this book several times over the past few years and I am committed to finishing it this year:
One Thousand Gifts – Ann Voskamp
Love this book and highly recommend it:
My missionary daughter gave me the devotion to this book last year for Christmas and it is my go-to devotional.
I love her blog – have been reading it for at least 5 years.
The girls and I have been keeping our own
Celebration of Disciple – Robert J. Foster
I have had this book for literally years and have wanted to read it for quite some time now. Our pastor recently shared a quote from this book and it reminded me of my desire to read it.
I have read about the different disciplines individually – but I am now ready and excited to dive into this book. I have just finished chapter 3 and have made extensive highlights and notes so far (good indication for me that this is a meaty and thought provoking book)
I will be spending so time journaling and writing on this one.
Own Your Life – Sally Clarkson
I am really looking forward to reading this book – one of the first ones on my list.
I love Sally Clarkson – she was a homeschool mom that has inspired many.
I feel as thought this book is going to really speak to where I am at right now.
Love Does – Bob Goff
I received this book from a sweet friend of mine. So I am looking forward to reading this to not only be inspired but to see a little more into her heart, since this is a book she loves and highly recommends.
This book also has a study guide you can purchase – I may look into getting that when I start this book, as I am the type of person that wants to get the most out of a book I can – especially if I am committing my time to reading it.
Books by Margaret Feinberg
Wonder Struck
Hungry for God
This past year I heard Margaret Fienberg speak at a women’s conference I attending. I love her – she is one of those people you just want to hug. I am looking forward to reading some of her books this year.
No Compromise – The life story of Keith Green - Written by Melody Green
I have been reading this book for awhile – Recommended by my missionary daughter – she gave me her copy of it. I have been really enjoying this book.
Kisses from Katie – Katie Davis
I am intrigued by this book and look forward to reading it.
These two books I know are going to be the kind of books that challenge me.
Well, this a start to my never ending book list.
Looking forward to being enlightened, challenged and inspired in 2015.
